Studio Calicoola is currently a founder-led studio.

All original artwork is created by the founder.

Production and finishing are handled in close collaboration with skilled female artisans. The core foundation of the brand lies in female empowerment and feminism, so we believe in employing and supporting women through employment and fair wages.

I draw first.

The clothes come after.

Studio Calicoola started from a need to turn dense, personal drawings into something that could be worn. I belong from Assam, and there is so much of my place that the world needs to know of. Through this project I want the world to know about the rich and spectacular history of Assam, of her Goddesses, of her people. The name is a playful take on Kali kula, the most transgressive and heterodox sect of Goddess worship. Like Kali kula, studio Calicoola also tries to embody the transgression and boldness of the Goddess into the wearer through the clothes. The rest is colour, line, and the decision not to dilute either.

These pieces are for people who like the source material and are comfortable being seen in it.
